Hi all,
if you are a Shade 10.5 user you probably found the "Render Active Pane" function pretty cool, despite the fact that thereīs no option (i hope i did not overlooked it ) for a "Save Zone" like you have in the camera viewport. Since iīm working on another little tutorial (which requires top view renderings) , i thought i would share my little technique. Ok, Step 1. Simply open a new empty Shade document and leave the render settings at 400x300 pixels. Hit render. Step 2. Load the rendered image into the top view. Now what i did, i created a cube (20cm) and positioned the cube at the top/left corner of the template, and repeated the procedure for the remaining corners. When working in top view etc. you can of course zoom in/out etc. but donīt forget at the end when your modeling is finished to use "Fit to View". Step 3. Select all cubes, let the top view window active and go to the render menu. Activate Render Active Pane and hit render. As you can see all cubes show up perfectly at each corner of your image, so that you know that all your inserted objects would fit perfectly into the rendered image. For square images you can also input 400x400 pixels which works also perfectly. Step 4. Determining the image resolution. Ok, what i did was say i wanīt an image rendered 2048 pixels wide, i entered 2048 for width, divided it by 4 to get 512 and then multiplied it by 3 to get 1536 pixels for the height. Hereīs a small image showing the procedure. ![]() Hope you find this little technique useful as i do. If you come up with an easier solution, feel free and let us all know. Regards Stefan |

I haven't had the need to do something like this, but when I do, I'll keep this trick handy
Thanks, Stefan |
